Cocktail Hour Songs

The cocktail hour at your wedding is a magical moment. You've just snagged a brand-new husband, everyone is reveling in good cheer, and the drinks are flowing. Whether or not you and your man sneak off for some alone time immediately after the ceremony, your guests will be savoring every hors d'oeuvre and detail they see during this time. Most importantly, this will all be happening with what's hopefully an amazing backdrop of music. Though conversation is generally the loudest part of any cocktail hour, it's important to play songs that capture the sheer joy of a wedding, even if they're not always totally heard.

That's why we curated a special playlist of our favorite songs to set the mood. Standards by the likes of Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin are classics for a reason: "Luck Be A Lady" and "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" are the perfect upbeat tunes to get everyone ready to relax and party. We also love Motown hits like The Temptations' "Just My Imagination (Running Away With Me" and Smokey Robinson and The Miracles' "I Second That Emotion" for their joyful, groovy odes to love.

Slightly more offbeat choices like RJD2's "Ghostwriter" and Rhythm Del Mundo's cover of Coldplay's "Clocks" will establish an eclectic, yet electric feel for the rest of the event. Whether you use our whole playlist or not, we're sure it'll help you start creating one of your own! Press play on our Spotify playlist, below, to get into the groove of celebration.
